A long family table set for dinner under candle lanterns in the Anar dining room

Come home Westwood · IrvinehungrySince 1991

At Anar every plate is set the way Maman Parvin set it in 1991: rice washed three times, saffron bloomed slowly, a crust of tahdig for whoever reaches first. Persian home cooking, served with ceremony.

Our Story

Signature dishes.
Family recipes.

Every recipe on our menu came to Los Angeles in a notebook, in Maman Parvin's handwriting and stained with saffron. We have changed the grill, the ovens and the produce since 1991. We have not changed the notebook.

The tahdig alone is worth the drive. We came for one birthday and have been coming every Friday since.

Like dinner at my grandmother's, if my grandmother had a charcoal grill and a wine list.

Ghormeh sabzi exactly like home. They remembered our names on the second visit.

A gorgeous room, generous plates, and the saffron ice cream is not optional.
